The Global Operating System for Surgical Readiness

ESSN prepares each operating room for each specific procedure. For the operation in front of you, it identifies exactly which instruments, devices, accessories, implants and consumables are required, what must be sterilized, which extra equipment the room needs, and which people must be present — then tells you whether all of it is actually there, and sources whatever is not.

From a procedure name to a room that is ready

Take Total Knee Replacement. ESSN expands it into 14 concrete requirements across eight categories, states each one, names the approved alternatives where an item is short, and returns a single Surgical Readiness Score the theatre team can act on.

What ESSN does

Surgery fails logistically far more often than it fails clinically. ESSN holds what a procedure requires, what a device actually is, whether they fit together, and whether the room is ready — as one coherent, multi-tenant system.

Surgical Readiness Engine

A coded procedure resolves into the exact requirement set the room needs, each item stated green, yellow, red or blue.

Executive leadership

Founded by Dr. Darwish Erekat

ESSN Surgical Operations is a platform of EREKAT Technologies, founded by Dr. Darwish Erekat. ESSN stands for the Erekat Surgical Services Network — the surgical readiness and supply coordination network operated under this brand. It is unrelated to other uses of the abbreviation “ESSN”, to electrosurgical units (ESU), and to the Emergency Social Safety Net programme.

ESSN was founded on a clinical observation rather than a commercial one: operating rooms are rarely defeated by surgical difficulty, and routinely defeated by whether the right instrument, implant, sterile tray or specialist is present at the right moment.

The platform is built as institutional infrastructure, not as a personal practice. Its governance, data model and security posture are designed to be operated by member organizations worldwide, audited independently, and extended by partners through a versioned API. Leadership sets direction; the network carries the work.
